TOSHIBA AIR CONDITIONING

All Toshiba air conditioning systems are designed with emphasis on energy efficiency, reliability, aesthetics and ease of installation.

The range of products that Toshiba manufacture make them the perfect solution for any installation that may be required, from Residential,  Light Commercial to Commercial properties.

Toshiba Air Conditioning dates back to 1930, when the company developed Japan's first hermetic compressor for use in refrigeration. In 1961, they released the World's first residential split air conditioners and in 1980, they released the World's first inverter air conditioner, a product developed using advanced in-house technologies to realise the concept of improving performance while saving energy. The entire Japanese market shifted to inverter technology soon after Toshiba invented and marketed the inverter air conditioner.

Toshiba launched our digital twin rotary air conditioners in 1993, as a new line-up featuring quiet operation and yet greater energy savings. Toshiba have continually produced air conditioning systems such as Daiseikai, Digital and Super Digital Inverter, Mini VRF and VRF systems with the best-in-class energy efficiency performance.

In 2012 Toshiba Air Conditioning achieved a carbon neutral status for its UK business following an intensive programme of carbon reduction and certified carbon offsetting with The CarbonNeutral Company, the leading verification and certification body in the field and is now officially recognised as being a CarbonNeutral® division of TCUK Ltd.

Their commitment to unremitting research and development focused on realising greater energy savings keeps Toshiba out front as a leader in energy saving and climate controlling technologies. Toshiba constantly works to ensure that our air conditioners help protect the environment while delivering reassurance and reliability to users around the World. Toshiba has earned international praise for building energy saving products, and for its environmental-oriented production facilities.

All Toshiba air conditioners are manufactured to the highest international quality standards, incorporating a series of quality control checks at each production stage. Our severe evaluation testing uses the latest technologies to ensure best-in-class quality before release to the Worlds markets. Toshiba units have always been designed to minimise the impact on the Environment. This is reflected in the materials used and most importantly in the efficiency of the units. Whatever method is used to measure performance and efficiency, Toshiba have always excelled and been able to demonstrate exceptionally high efficiencies, which have satisfied and fulfilled the requirements of different directives, governments and authorities around the world.

The move towards lower GWP refrigerants is being driven by the European F-Gas Regulation, which came into force in January 2015.  This requires a progressive phase-down in the use of high GWP hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants. R410A has a relatively high GWP of 2088, compared with R32’s GWP of 675.

Toshiba has phased out the use of R410A refrigerant in smaller split systems and moved to R32, which is less expensive and has a much lower Global Warming Potential (GWP).  The decision follows clear evidence the industry now accepts mildly flammable A2L refrigerants as the default mainstream solution for use in small and medium size air conditioning systems.

A full range of Toshiba Super Digital Inverter (SDi) and Digital Inverter (Di) systems is available pre-charged with R32, giving customers access to this high performance, low GWP option. R410A-based equipment will continue to be sold until existing stock runs out, which is likely early spring. Toshiba will continue to supply our award-winning SMMS-e and SHRM-e VRF, larger Digital Inverter and Super Digital Inverter systems on R410A, which is the current default solution for large distributed systems.

Toshiba has been producing R32 units for use in the Japanese market since 2014 for both residential and light commercial applications.

When coupled with the company’s new Smart Cassette, R32 offers unrivalled levels of performance, with Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratings (SEER) in excess of 9.
