Their products are created with performance in mind, the new range are 10 times more concentrated than any other concentrate on the market and are built on the Gel Clear ethos of solution lead, quality products.

With over 30 years of experience in food retail drainage maintenance, Gel Clear learned that most reactive call-outs were for…. Refrigeration Drains. By far the biggest reason for that was blocked condensate drains.

The primary cause of blocked condensate drains is Biofilm Extracellular Polymeric Secretion (EPS). In food retail, the biofilm problem in refrigeration was commonly being treated with chlorine tablets made for air-conditioning units. There was no refrigeration specific product on the market.

So they started research and development, they had a clear understanding of what was needed ......

In collaboration with their manufacturing partner, a company with a pedigree in environmentally friendly cleaning chemicals, they set about developing a solution. After 2 years of product development and trials, they achieved what they had set out to do.

Marketing the tablet was the next challenge. A new company with a new product, approaching a risk averse market, with a complexed stakeholder chain? What could possibly go wrong?

So what could they do? They had a proven, effective solution to a problem that wasn’t going anywhere.

The tablet was launched in early 2013, with no publicity, promotion or sales team offering a free product trial on their website and before very long, people were really interested.

Initially Gel Clear relied on the tablets to sell themselves, and they did. People trialling the product quickly realised its effectiveness, immediate, massive operational cost savings, becoming costs neutral in a matter of weeks, not months.

In 2016 they won the RAC Cooling Award for Refrigeration Product of the Year, and in 2017, they also won the HIVE Innovation Award.

In 2018 they were the second finalist for Cooling Business of the Year, and in 2019, they were Highly Commended by judges in the RAC Cooling Industry Awards.

TPT25 Tank Pump Tablets

The TPT25 tablet gives you effective protection from condensate tank and drain blockages, it reduces build up of biofilms in the drainage system. Placing one tablet in the unit condensate drain pan, in contact with the water, and away from the drain outlet will keep drains clear from the unit. APC19-2 Condensate Drain Pipe Supports

Refrigeration cabinet drains are commonly installed flat to the floor. The problem here is, all gravity drains require a minimum of 1.8% slope to achieve the needed flow of 0.6 metres per second that gravity drains need to keep themselves clean.

The bio-beta pipe support is designed to easily retrofit existing drains, fitted in seconds, existing drains can be brought up to industry standard with no interruption to the cabinet function.

CHP17 Condensate Drain Connector

The bio-beta header pipe connector, with an in-built air intake valve, is fully compliant with BS EN 12056-2:2000 Backflow protection for the header pipe to prevent backwash overflow above the ceiling where HVACR cabinet condensate pump discharge pipes connect. Fits industry-standard 40mm solvent weld pipes.

Condensate pumps for refrigeration cabinets work wonderfully well, when installed correctly. What has always been overlooked by manufacturers is how the pump discharge line connects to the drainage system.

Ironically, the second biggest cause of condensate pump failure is discharge hose kinking? The discharge hose connects at high level to a header drain above the ceiling tiles, usually by the hose turning 180 degrees and dropping into an open pipe.

This open connection is also prone to water leaks from ‘backwash’, cause when the pump discharges under pressure into gravity drain, causing a kinetic wave washing back down the drain pipe.

Both of these problems are solved with the bio-beta drain connector, it seals the connection, and connects the hose at a vertical, in a straight line, completely ruling out the risk of kinking.

DTD250 Drain Dye (250ml)

The dye helps to rapidly identify the cause of leaks and faults.

When a puddle of water is coming from under the cabinet, it could be a couple of things……ice thawing….sweating…or a blocked drain. You can find out which one it is in seconds using the drain dye.

Put a 25 ml shot of dye into the drain pan and wash it down with 5 litres of water…..if your puddle doesnt turn green…you can quickly rule out the drains.

Simple to use, the dye is super concentrated and one bottle is able to treat 1000 litres of water a luminous green.

The dye is also UV sensitive, meaning even the slightest weeping on a loose connector can be identified using a UV torch. (UV torches sold separately)

Gel-clear’s condensate drain dye is an ideal tool in HVAC/R PPM or deep cleans, and one shot down the drain on completion can ensure that the drain remains flowing and fit for purpose.

UDG125 Drain Guard

The refrigeration drain guard is an easy to use, flexible, magnetic drain cover for use during deep cleans. Designed to prevent debris entering the drains during the clean, the strong magnetic cover will fit all cabinet profiles and drainage outlet types.

Cabinet deep cleaning is by far, the most important aspect of maintenance for food retail display cabinets. Recognised by the Carbon Trust/IOR/BRA as the area where the largest energy savings could be achieved in the cold chain, absolutely dwarfing doors, LED lights and night blinds at 20%.

The deep clean drain guard is a simple, yet very effective aid in the deep cleaning of cabinets. LD03 Leak Detector Aerosol (400ml Can)

Gel-Clear Leak Detection Spray is a ready to use 400ml aerosol. It comes with a nozzle straw for pinpoint direction of the solution to find the smallest leaks in the most awkward areas.

A leak detectors a leak detector you might say…..it’s just bubbles…….it is, your right. But this aerosol of bubbles uses a nitrogen propellant so its pretty safe to use in tight spots on HVAC equipment.
